Dima Hasao Police have arrested Baharul Islam, a resident of Dhing in Nagaon district, along with another individual, in a significant heroin trafficking case. The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation on February 6.
A police team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (P) Bitu Baishya, intercepted a light motor vehicle at the Dittokcherra checkpoint under Harangajao Police Station. During a detailed search, authorities recovered 14 soap cases containing 176.55 grams of suspected heroin, which were seized following standard procedures.
The vehicle’s driver, Baharul Islam, was apprehended on the spot, and a second suspect linked to the case was arrested later from Batadrava in Nagaon district.
Police also recovered a Suzuki S-Presso car, Rs 14,200 in cash, and a mobile phone from the accused. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the drugs and identify other individuals involved in the trafficking network.
