In a major breakthrough in the high-profile Ara Tanishq showroom robbery, Bhojpur police have arrested the main accused, Baba alias Sourabh Tiwari (25), a resident of Bithauli in Vaishali. He is believed to have been the kingpin behind a gang of six other robbers who carried out the daring broad daylight heist at the showroom located at Gopali Chowk, the commercial hub of Ara, in March last year.
According to Ara Sadar SDPO-1 Raj Kumar Shah, Sourabh was the last to enter the showroom wearing a helmet and left the premises with the looted bag containing jewellery. The other six associates acted as his accomplices during the robbery.
Police have recovered two of the three looted bags, along with 750 grams of gold jewellery from the third bag that Sourabh took.
So far, a total of 26 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case for providing shelter to the robbers or assisting as accomplices. Among them, two accused—Chunmun Jha and Prince Kumar—were killed in police encounters in Araria and Vaishali, respectively.
Police continue their investigation to track down any remaining accomplices and recover the rest of the stolen property.
