STOUGHTON, Mass. — Stoughton Police arrested 18-year-old Aydan Miguel Rivera of Brockton and two teenagers after a stolen vehicle pursuit early Monday morning.
Police reported that an officer on Washington Street spotted three cars speeding. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicles, all three fled, leading to a police chase that extended into Canton.
The chase involved a stolen Hyundai Elantra from Manor Drive, which an eyewitness followed and reported to police. Officer Genereux resumed pursuit on Interstate 93 and off the highway onto Ponkapoag Trail, where the Elantra crashed. Three suspects wearing ski masks fled the vehicle.
A 15-year-old was quickly arrested at the scene, while the 13-year-old driver and Rivera ran into nearby trails. Massachusetts State Troopers assisted in the search, and police later found the two suspects in a Canton neighborhood.
An investigation revealed the suspects broke into the Elantra by smashing a window and started it without keys. The 13-year-old was driving during the pursuit.
Police also linked the third vehicle in the chase to a separate stolen car from Abington that crashed on Turnpike Street in Canton. The driver of that vehicle remains at large.
Rivera was arraigned Monday in Stoughton District Court, while the two teens face arraignment in Dedham Juvenile Court. Charges include larceny of a motor vehicle, negligent operation, unlicensed driving, and failure to stop for police.
