Awantipora police have successfully solved a hit-and-run case by arresting the accused and seizing the vehicle involved.
On July 17, 2025, a pedestrian named Habibullah Beigh, son of Mohd Sultan Beigh from Lethpora, was struck by an unknown vehicle at Lethpora. Habibullah was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, the Awantipora Police registered a case (FIR No. 161/2025) under relevant sections of law and launched an investigation.
Under the leadership of SHO Inspector Ajaz Hamd and PSI Dalbir Singh, the police conducted a rigorous search and arrested the accused driver, Raj Kumar, son of Krishan Chand, resident of Mova Samba, Jammu. Raj Kumar is currently in police custody.
The vehicle with registration number JK21F-4537 involved in the crime has been seized by the police.
Police officials assured the public that they are committed to taking strict action against individuals involved in such criminal acts to ensure community safety.
