Avery Hash Arrested for Fentanyl Possession at West Virginia High School
MILL CREEK, W.Va. (WBOY) — A 44-year-old man, Avery Hash, was arrested Friday after being found loitering on the property of Tygarts Valley High School with suspected fentanyl in his possession.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement was called after school staff noticed a “suspicious male” on school grounds wearing a cut-off T-shirt, green pants, and a hat. Officers arrived to find Hash slumped over in a dugout, holding a piece of burnt aluminum foil in his lap.
When asked about the foil, Hash admitted, “I was smoking Fetty, yeah.” The officer conducted a probable cause search and discovered an open Camel Snus can in Hash’s pocket, which contained more aluminum foil with a white and gray powder consistent with fentanyl or heroin.
When questioned further, Hash confirmed the substance was “supposed to be” fentanyl.
Hash was arrested and charged with possession of fentanyl and loitering on school property. He is currently held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $1,000 cash-only bond.
