Avadi Police Arrest Four in Ponneri Land Grab Scam

Forged documents used to illegally sell government land

by Ananya Mehta

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Avadi City Police has arrested four individuals for allegedly grabbing government poramboke lands using forged documents and subsequently selling them.

The case was registered following a complaint from D. Anita of Police Quarters, St. Thomas Mount, in January 2025. During the investigation, police discovered that real estate brokers Prakash Babu and Abdul Razak, along with their associates, had approached Anita’s husband, Devendran, a few months prior.

Operating under the banner of ‘Good Luck Real Estate’, the group developed a 1.47-acre land at Ponneri in Tiruvallur district, which originally belonged to Srinivasan. They falsely claimed that Abdul Razak had the power of attorney to sell the land, enabling them to carry out the illegal transaction.

Police are continuing the investigation to determine the full extent of the land grab and any additional accomplices involved.
