STATESVILLE, N.C. — 23-year-old Austin Ty’Kim “Kimbe” Morrison of Statesville was arrested Saturday, June 28, in connection with the murder of Timmy Jaurice Moore. Morrison faces several charges including murder, larceny of a motor vehicle, felony flee to elude arrest, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana, and multiple traffic violations.

The murder charge stems from the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Timmy Moore, who was found dead from gunshot wounds near Deaton Street and Abernathy Ball Field around 12:45 p.m. on June 14.

Later that evening, around 7:30 p.m., officers with the Statesville Police Department Traffic Unit observed a vehicle driving erratically near Inglewood Road and Grove Road. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and led officers on a brief off-road pursuit through residential yards.

The suspect eventually fled the vehicle on foot but was captured after a short chase. He was identified as Austin Ty’Kim Morrison.

Morrison is currently being held as the investigation into the shooting continues.
