Austin Swafford Arrested in Manhattan for Bike Theft, Trespassing

Man held on multiple charges including narcotics possession

MANHATTAN, Kan. — A 40-year-old Manhattan man, Austin Swafford, was arrested on Saturday, June 7, following a report of criminal trespass and theft involving a stolen bicycle.

Riley County Police responded to a call near the 900 block of Thurston Street around 3:50 p.m., where a 33-year-old woman reported that Swafford had entered her property and taken her bike and bike lock, valued at approximately $325.

During the investigation, officers discovered Swafford was also in possession of an illegal substance. Additionally, he was wanted on a municipal warrant for failure to appear related to a previous theft charge.

Swafford was charged with criminal trespass, theft, possession of narcotics, and the outstanding warrant. He was held on a $6,500 bond and remains in Riley County Jail.
