On Friday, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested Maan, a man from Punjab, in Sultanpur for living under a false identity using forged documents. The arrest comes as part of heightened security measures ahead of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and the Republic Day celebrations.

The ATS Ayodhya field unit had received intelligence about an individual residing in Sultanpur under a fake identity. Investigations revealed that Maan had used forged documents to create a false address in Taukulpur Nagra, Kadipur, Sultanpur. These documents allowed him to obtain identification cards with the fake address.

According to Additional DG of ATS, Nilabja Chaudhary, Maan was summoned for questioning at the ATS Ayodhya office. During interrogation, Maan disclosed that he was originally from Arniwala Sheikh Subhan, located in the Fazilka district of Punjab.

Further investigation revealed that Maan had applied for a passport using the forged address in April-May 2024, with plans to travel abroad using the fraudulent documents.

The ATS is continuing its investigation to determine the full extent of Maan’s activities and any possible connections to larger criminal networks.
