ATHENS, Ala. — Two men from Athens have been charged with drug trafficking following an investigation by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
On Dec. 15, the Limestone County Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop at the Taco Bell in Athens as part of an ongoing narcotics probe. Investigators discovered approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle, leading to the arrest of 48-year-old Bradley Michael Rouse, who faces charges of trafficking in methamphetamine. No bond has been set.
The investigation continued with the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Reynard Street, where authorities found roughly 100 grams of methamphetamine, one pistol, and about $3,000 in cash. Forty-five-year-old Michael Paul Mondell was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of a pistol by a violent felon. Mondell has a prior conviction for facilitation of second-degree murder in Jefferson County, Tennessee, and no bond has been set.
Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin praised the efforts of the Narcotics Unit and patrol deputies, noting that methamphetamine remains a significant threat to the community. “Our message is clear: if you bring narcotics into Limestone County, you will be held accountable,” he said.
