Athens Man Sentenced for Drug Crimes in Bradford County

Wyatt Yanney Faces Prison Time After Conviction on Multiple Charges

by Amelia Crawford

Wyatt R. Yanney, 33, from Athens, has been sentenced to a minimum of one year and a maximum of six years in a state correctional institution after being found guilty of multiple drug-related offenses. The charges stemmed from his involvement in making and distributing various drugs from a home in Bradford County.

Yanney was convicted of the following crimes, as reported by the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office:

Flight to avoid apprehension (third-degree felony)
Possession with intent to deliver between 10 and 50 grams of psilocybin mushrooms (a Schedule 1 controlled substance)
Resisting arrest (second-degree misdemeanor)
Tampering with physical evidence (second-degree misdemeanor)
Possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor)
In addition to his prison sentence, Yanney will serve four years of probation. His conviction followed a drug investigation in Sayre Borough in April 2024, where local police acted on a tip about drug activity on Draper Street. During the investigation, law enforcement also discovered a warrant for Yanney from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Notably, Yanney had been on federal probation since a 2016 conviction for drug-related charges. As a result, he is expected to face an additional two to two and a half years in federal prison for violating that probation, which will run concurrently with his Bradford County sentence.

Yanney’s case highlights the ongoing issue of drug trafficking in the region and serves as a reminder of the legal consequences of engaging in drug-related crimes.
