In a major drug bust, Assam Police have seized 30,000 methamphetamine tablets, also known as Yaba tablets, valued at approximately Rs 9 crore, and arrested a drug peddler in Cachar district.

The arrest was made following a special operation on Saturday night in the Katakhal area. Police apprehended Abdul Alim (42) with the large cache of tablets. A two-wheeler used to transport the drugs was also seized during the operation.

The police suspect that the drugs were smuggled from Myanmar and were being sent to other parts of India through Assam.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police force for their efforts in combating the drug trade and working toward a drugs-free Assam.
