In a major operation, Assam Police have busted an interstate vehicle theft racket, arresting 11 individuals, including mastermind Inamul Hussain from Goalpara, who facilitated the transfer of stolen motorcycles to Manipur.
The gang was known for its precision—stealing high-end bikes in as little as 45 seconds. During raids, police recovered 13 stolen motorcycles, including 12 Royal Enfield models, and three cars—two Mahindra Thars and a Mahindra Scorpio.
Investigations revealed that the gang flew into Guwahati, operated out of temporary bases for a few days, and smuggled stolen vehicles using commercial buses. Their well-organized operation also included a young woman, showing the gang’s complex structure.
Alongside this breakthrough, Nagaon Police conducted a parallel crackdown and busted another bike theft racket. They recovered three stolen motorcycles and arrested Hobibur Rahman (Kenduguri), Suleman Ali (Hujgaon), Narjul Islam, and Makshidul Islam (Chatian).
Police efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining members and curb the growing trend of interstate vehicle theft across northeastern India.
