Assam Police Arrest Four in Major Cyber Fraud Crackdown

Over Rs 20 Crore Seized in Morigaon Cyber Crime Operation

In a significant crackdown on cyber fraud, Assam Police arrested four individuals in Morigaon on September 20. The operation, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samiran Baishya, targeted suspected cyber criminals.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Requib Uddin, Ennaruddin, Inzamamul Islam, and Ishaful Alam. A formal case has been registered at the Moirabari police station under Sections 120(B), 419, 420, 406, 467, 468, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 66(D) of the IT Act.

ASP Baishya’s efforts have been instrumental, resulting in the apprehension of approximately 222 cyber criminals across the Morigaon district. In this extensive anti-cybercrime operation, police recovered more than Rs 20 crore that had been fraudulently siphoned from various financial institutions.
