A 21-year-old Chicago resident, Asia Heaven Nicole Downing, has been arrested after allegedly scamming a resident in Grant Parish out of more than $40,000.
According to the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, Downing is accused of convincing the victim to send the money through an online impersonation scheme.
Authorities say the case involves allegations of deception carried out using digital communication, leading to significant financial loss for the victim.
Downing has been charged with theft over $25,000, computer fraud, and online impersonation. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
