In a disturbing echo of the recent Renukaswamy murder case, the Kalaburagi Police have arrested three individuals, including a woman named Ashwini alias Tanu and her boyfriend Gururaj, for the brutal murder of Raghavendra Nayak (39).
According to Police Commissioner Dr. Sharanappa, Raghavendra, a resident of Kalaburagi, was kidnapped on March 12 by Ashwini, Gururaj, and their accomplices. The motive was revenge—Raghavendra allegedly continued to harass Ashwini after their breakup, which enraged her current partner.
The gang allegedly abducted him and took him to a cremation ground in Keerthi Nagar, where he was assaulted, mutilated, and killed. His body was later dumped in a river near Shakti Nagar, Raichur, in a failed attempt to destroy evidence.
The police launched an investigation after Raghavendra’s wife filed a missing person report. Following interrogation, the kidnapping and murder conspiracy unraveled. Ashwini, Gururaj, and Lakshmikant have been arrested so far, and more arrests may follow.
The case has sparked widespread outrage and highlighted rising instances of personal vendettas leading to deadly violence in Karnataka.
