In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Shimla Police arrested two individuals in possession of 11 grams of heroin near Panthaghati, as per an official police statement released Monday.
The arrested have been identified as:
Ashwani Kumar alias Happy (22), originally from Hamirpur and currently residing in Shimla.
Ashwin Kumar (29), a resident of Shimla.
An FIR (No. 48/25) has been registered under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station East, Shimla. According to the report, the Special Cell was on a routine patrol near Shakrala on June 15, 2025, when they intercepted the duo and discovered the narcotics.
This arrest comes close on the heels of a June 7 operation in Shoghi, where police seized 21.07 grams of heroin and arrested several individuals from Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
The Shimla Police reiterated their strong stance against drug trafficking and called for continued public cooperation in reporting suspicious activity.
