Gwalior Police have arrested a husband-wife gang, Arvind Rajak (32) and Jyoti Rajak (30), responsible for 57 robberies across Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. The couple’s operations, targeting high-value assets such as cash and jewellery, spanned 12 cities over several months.
Police sources revealed that the duo executed meticulously planned robberies using three motorcycles for each operation—one for reconnaissance, one to reach the target, and a third as a getaway vehicle parked at a distance. This tactic helped them evade CCTV tracking and law enforcement across multiple districts.
The investigation accelerated after six consecutive robberies in Gwalior’s Maharajpura area, prompting police to analyze hundreds of hours of footage. Authorities discovered patterns in the gang’s movements, ultimately leading to their identification.
Officials stated that Arvind Rajak primarily executed the break-ins, while Jyoti Rajak ensured smooth escapes. Traveling together allowed them to bypass police checkpoints and transport stolen goods across state borders, with Jyoti’s presence acting as a psychological shield for patrolling units.
Arvind Rajak has a prior record of 56 theft cases across Jhansi, Sehore, Hoshangabad, and cities in Gujarat, while Jyoti had a single prior case in Jhansi. Authorities say the arrests are expected to solve dozens of pending cases along the interstate corridor.
Following the arrest, police recovered a haul of stolen property valued at approximately RS17.75 lakh, including:
Two gold necklaces
Two gold chains
Four gold rings
One pair of bracelets
Total gold weight: 105 grams
The Gwalior Police continue investigating to determine whether the couple is linked to additional thefts in other districts.
