FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (BTW21) — In a disturbing case that has shaken the Franklin County community, Artem Moyer, a 46-year-old automotive teacher at Franklin County High School, has waived his preliminary hearing and will now face a grand jury on June 2 in Franklin County Circuit Court.
Moyer is accused of engaging in sexual acts with a 17-year-old student. According to court documents, the alleged inappropriate relationship took place between August and November of 2024.
He was arrested on November 14 by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and charged with:
One felony count of indecent liberties with a child by a custodian
One felony count of object sexual penetration
A public criminal complaint revealed that the relationship involved hugging, kissing, and inappropriate touching in the classroom.
The Franklin County Superintendent confirmed to ABC13 that Moyer was employed at the high school as an automotive instructor at the time of the alleged incidents.
