Lawson, Mo. — March 9, 2025 – An arrest warrant has been issued for Lewis A. Thomas IV, 41, of Carrollton, who is accused of stealing more than $22,000 worth of baseball cards from his roommate’s nearly 40-year-old collection.

Ray County Circuit Court records filed on Tuesday, March 4, show Thomas faces charges related to the theft of the valuable baseball cards. According to a probable cause statement from the Lawson Police Department, Thomas’ roommate reported the theft on January 6. The victim had noticed that cards were missing from his collection as early as December and had previously caught Thomas stealing from him. He then gave Thomas five days to move out.

The victim’s collection, which had been built since 1986, included rare cards that were later found at various card shops, including The Baseball Card Store in Overland Park, Art of Sports in Leawood, and Northland Card Shop in Gladstone. Investigators say 94 cards were stolen, valued at $22,165.

As a result, Thomas has been charged with stealing. A $10,000 bond has been set for his arrest, but as of Saturday, he has not yet been taken into custody. A hearing has not been scheduled, and no further information has been released at this time.
