Hyderabad, Telangana: In a major anti-narcotics operation during the festive season, railway police arrested two men at Secunderabad Railway Station for smuggling over 10 kilograms of ganja from Berhampur, Odisha. The seized contraband, valued at over Rs5.4 lakh, was intended for distribution across Telangana, particularly ahead of the Dasara festival.
The accused were identified as Madugula Arjun, an employee at a car service centre, and Vatti Srinivas, a milk vendor—both residents of Maheshwaram.
The arrests were made during a surprise anti-drug inspection conducted by a team led by Deputy Superintendent SN Jawed at Kacheguda and Secunderabad railway stations.
According to police, the duo boarded the Konark Express with the ganja packed in two backpacks, divided into seven sealed packets. The two men reportedly bought the cannabis at Rs3,000 per kg from an unknown dealer in the Berhampur forest.
