In a major breakthrough, Kondhwa police arrested a notorious thief, Arjun Singh Rajput Singh Dudhani (47), from Manjarigaon, Hadapsar, responsible for breaking into more than 150 houses across Pune city.
The arrest followed a burglary on June 4, when Dudhani broke into a locked house in Kondhwa and stole 21 tolas of gold ornaments, cash, and the housing society’s CCTV DVR to erase evidence. A case was promptly registered at Kondhwa police station, triggering an intense investigation.
Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde (Zone 5), Assistant Commissioner Dhanyakumar Godse, Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar, and Inspector Navnath Jagtap, two special teams analyzed over 100 CCTV footage clips for five days to track the suspect’s movements.
With concrete leads, police laid a trap and arrested Dudhani. Recovered from him were stolen items including a 40-gram gold mangalsutra, a 20-gram gold chain, and a two-wheeler, valued at approximately Rs3.40 lakh.
Dudhani has a staggering criminal record, with more than 150 housebreaking cases registered against him in Pune.
The successful operation involved the active participation of Assistant Inspector Rakesh Jadhav, Sub-Inspector Balaji Digole, and officers Satish Chavan, Nilesh Desai, Vishal Memane, among others.
The arrest has brought relief to Pune residents and has been praised as an exemplary police effort.
