Girlfriend of Hialeah Murder Suspect Faces Charges in Cover-Up
MIAMI-DADE, FL – Ariela Alvarez-Cabrera, 27, made her first court appearance this week after being arrested in connection with the murder of 37-year-old Daylon Fleitas Gonzalez, a Hialeah man who went missing in early August.
According to an arrest warrant, Alvarez-Cabrera is accused of helping her boyfriend, Alfredo Carballo Gonzalez, 32, clean up the crime scene after he allegedly murdered Fleitas. She faces charges of accessory after the fact and tampering with physical evidence.
Fleitas vanished on August 3, the same day he was scheduled to meet with Carballo in Medley, reportedly to collect $10,000 Carballo owed him. The next day, Fleitas’ girlfriend filed a missing persons report.
The investigation intensified after Fleitas’ truck was spotted via SunPass cameras being driven by someone matching Carballo’s description—not Fleitas’. Days later, the vehicle was found abandoned with blood-stained clothing and shoes inside.
Surveillance footage later revealed Carballo dragging Fleitas’ body and Alvarez-Cabrera arriving at the scene in her SUV, allegedly helping to clean the truck. A recycling bin was seen in the bed of the vehicle, and Fleitas’ body was later discovered in such a bin in a wooded area.
The medical examiner ruled Fleitas’ death a homicide, citing numerous sharp force injuries.
Alvarez-Cabrera fled with Carballo and their infant to Mexico, but later surrendered on September 8. The child was found safe and returned to Florida.
During her court appearance, Alvarez-Cabrera’s attorney claimed she was unaware of the murder and went to meet her boyfriend. However, prosecutors argued she actively participated in concealing the crime and helped Carballo flee.
Judge Mindy Glazer denied a request to lower Alvarez-Cabrera’s bond from $200,000 to $40,000, ordered her to surrender her passport, and placed her under house arrest if bond is posted.
Meanwhile, Alfredo Carballo Gonzalez remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
