Archith Dodre Arrested for Karkala School Burglaries

Stole Rs3 Lakh Worth Valuables from Educational Institutes

The Karkala police have arrested a 24-year-old man, identified as Archith Avinash Dodre from Byndoor, in connection with a string of thefts targeting educational institutions across Karkala taluk.

Dodre was nabbed on March 20 near St. Lawrence High School, NITTE, by a police team led by Circle Inspector D.R. Manjappa. Following his arrest, he was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by a jurisdictional court.

According to the Udupi district police, Dodre has confessed to several thefts, including:

Rs1.5 lakh cash and three DVRs stolen from St. Joseph English Medium School, Belman

Rs60,000 cash and CCTV cameras from St. Mara Gorati English Medium School, Hirgana

Damaging property and breaking into a cupboard at Government HPS, Nandalike

The police recovered valuables worth Rs3 lakh, along with a car and equipment allegedly used in the burglaries.

The investigation team included PSI Shivakumar (Karkala Town), Ranjith, Shivanand, Chandrashekhar, Satish, and Pradeep from Karkala Rural and Ajekar stations.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if Dodre is linked to any other unsolved thefts in the district.
