Police arrested nine individuals on Friday for operating an illegal online betting racket from a rented house in Mitco Colony under the Telaiya police station limits.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Anudeep Singh confirmed the arrests, stating that the gang had been running the operation for the past three to four months, working in shifts to manage round-the-clock betting via the “Reddy App” — a platform known for facilitating illegal gambling.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials raided the location and seized key evidence including mobile phones, ATM cards, bank passbooks, a scanner, and a swipe machine — tools commonly used in online fraud and financial crimes.
The arrested individuals were identified as:
Samir Alam (Dhanbad)
Raunak Kumar (Nawada, Bihar)
Amit Kumar (Ara, Bihar)
Prince Kumar (Dhanbad)
Jitendra Kumar Singh (Patna)
Manish Kumar (Samastipur, Bihar)
Kunal Singh (Patna)
Kulendra Kumar (Gaya)
Vikky Kumar (Ara, Bihar)
SP Singh said, “We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the scale of this scam and identify how many people may have fallen prey to this betting fraud.”
Authorities have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation expands to uncover deeper layers of this digital betting operation.
