SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — A Friday night traffic stop in Scottsboro led to the arrest of a man after officers discovered suspected synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police conducted the stop around 9:12 p.m. near Elm Street and Sisk Street, contacting the driver, 36-year-old Antonio Dasean Jones of Stevenson. Officers noticed a plastic bag containing a green substance in the driver’s side door. When questioned, Jones allegedly tried to retrieve the bag and was detained.
Further investigation uncovered another bag with a similar substance and digital scales inside the vehicle. Field tests confirmed the substances were synthetic marijuana, commonly known as Spice.
Jones was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was first taken to the Scottsboro City Jail before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail on the felony charge.
