COLUMBIA, S.C. — Anthony William Alexander, 68, was arrested and charged with attempted murder after deputies say he shot an innocent bystander at random near Parklane Road on June 7.
Law enforcement took Alexander into custody on Friday following the incident that occurred in the 100 block of O’Neil Court, close to Parklane Road.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 7200 block of Parklane Road. Multiple bullet casings were recovered at the scene, though K9 units were unable to track the suspect immediately.
The victim sustained a grazing gunshot wound to the torso and received treatment at the scene. Investigators confirmed there was no known relationship between Alexander and the victim.
Alexander faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
