MONTEVALLO, Ala. — Three individuals are in custody following a significant drug bust in the Almont area of Montevallo, where law enforcement recovered a large cache of illegal narcotics and firearms.
The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, in coordination with the Shelby County Tactical Response Unit, executed a search warrant on Thursday, September 4 at a residence on Davis Hawkins Street.
Authorities seized a staggering quantity of drugs, including:
10 pounds of marijuana
154 grams of cocaine
154 grams of promethazine
22 grams of MDMA
175 grams of methamphetamine
135 grams of THC
172 grams of hydrocodone
146 grams of psychedelic mushrooms
34 grams of crack cocaine
3 grams of oxycodone
Multiple firearms
The following suspects were arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail:
Anthony Peoples Sr. faces numerous charges including:
Drug trafficking of marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and hydrocodone
Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Being a certain person forbidden to possess a firearm
Desmond Cottingham and Tamika Cottingham were both charged with:
Unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
First-degree possession of marijuana
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming as evidence is processed.
