MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie man is facing several felony charges after police say he broke into a woman’s apartment, assaulted her, and fired a gunshot as he left.
Anthony Moore, 34, has been preliminarily charged with the following:
Burglary with a deadly weapon (Level 2 felony)
Domestic battery with a deadly weapon (Level 5 felony)
Intimidation with a deadly weapon (Level 5 felony)
Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon (Level 6 felony)
The incident occurred around 12:04 a.m. on June 18 at an apartment in the 4200 block of S. Pinewood Drive. According to court documents, a woman reported that Moore forcefully entered her apartment, confronted and struck her, and pointed a handgun at her before firing a shot outside as he fled.
The woman said she had been sleeping upstairs with her 3-year-old daughter when the incident began. A friend who answered the door was present when Moore entered and ran up the stairs yelling. On the landing, he allegedly slapped the woman and brandished a firearm.
As Moore exited, he reportedly pointed the weapon at her again and discharged a single round.
Police recovered a live round in the parking lot, a spent shell casing, and another live round on the apartment stairwell.
Moore was arrested later that morning in an unrelated incident on S. Pinewood Street. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for unlawful carrying of a handgun and was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.
