Anthony Lee Coverdale Arrested After High-Speed Chase, Faces Multiple Felony Charges

Vehicle Pursuit Leads to Seizure of Methamphetamine, Firearm, and $5,000 in Cash

HENRY COUNTY, Va. — Anthony Lee Coverdale, 33, was arrested on December 30, 2024, by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office after a brief vehicle pursuit that ended on South Creek Court in the Collinsville community. Coverdale, who was already wanted for three counts of felony probation violation, now faces multiple new charges following his arrest.

Coverdale, who had been on probation for previous drug and firearm offenses, was initially spotted by deputies, who attempted to stop his vehicle. Coverdale, however, fled the scene, leading to a short pursuit before deputies successfully apprehended him on South Creek Court.

A search of Coverdale’s vehicle revealed a significant stash of illegal items, including approximately 308 grams (about 1 pound) of methamphetamine, a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and approximately $5,000 in cash.

As a result of the arrest, Coverdale now faces several serious charges, including:

Three counts of Probation Violation (Virginia Code Section 19.2-306)
Possession of a Firearm by a Previously Convicted Felon (Virginia Code Section 18.2-308.2)
Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine (Virginia Code Section 18.2-248)
Possession of a Schedule I/II Drug While in Possession of a Firearm (Virginia Code Section 18.2-308.4)
Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number (Virginia Code Section 18.2-311.1)
Carrying a Concealed Weapon (Virginia Code Section 18.2-308)
Driving with a Suspended License (Virginia Code Section 46.2-301)
Failure to Stop for Police (Virginia Code Section 46.2-817)
Coverdale is currently being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center, where he faces a series of serious charges stemming from the illegal items discovered during his arrest.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding this incident to come forward. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office commended the swift response of their deputies, noting that the successful apprehension of Coverdale prevented further potential danger to the community. The department remains committed to addressing criminal activity in the area, especially when it involves dangerous substances and weapons.
