A woman has been charged in connection with the murder of Izabela Zablocka, who went missing in 2010 after moving to the UK from Poland.

Derbyshire Police confirmed that Anna Podedworna, 39, of Boyer Street, Derby, has been charged with murder, preventing a lawful burial, and perverting the course of justice. She is currently in custody and is expected to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Ms. Zablocka was 30 years old when she lost contact with her family in August 2010. She had been living in the Normanton area of Derby since arriving in the UK in 2009.

A murder investigation was launched two weeks ago, and human remains—believed to be Zablocka’s—were found in the garden of a property on Princes Street in Normanton.

In total, five people have been arrested in connection with the investigation. Two other women, aged 39 and 43, and two men, aged 41 and 48, were arrested on suspicion of murder. All four have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Samantha Shallow, deputy chief Crown prosecutor for the East Midlands, stated:
“Following a review of the evidence provided by Derbyshire Constabulary, we have authorised criminal charges in relation to the death of Izabela Zablocka. Our thoughts remain with the family of Ms. Zablocka at this time.”

She also emphasized the importance of not sharing commentary or speculation that could impact the fairness of the trial, reminding the public that criminal proceedings are now active.
