Police cracked two separate vehicle theft cases in Mohali, arresting two accused.

In the first case, Ankit, son of Sunil from Baghpat district (Uttar Pradesh), was arrested for stealing and dismantling a woman’s e-rickshaw. The stolen vehicle belonged to Sunita from Sector 17. She had lodged a complaint on August 11 after her e-rickshaw was stolen from Rajiv Colony’s main road.

Despite initial challenges, Crime Branch-26 in-charge Dalip Singh received a tip-off leading to Ankit’s arrest. During interrogation, Ankit confessed to dismantling the e-rickshaw and selling its parts for Rs 15,000, which was recovered by the police. Ankit has been sent to judicial custody.

In a separate case, Ravi Kumar, son of Dharmapal from Khizargarh, Mohali, was arrested for stealing a bike belonging to Virender Jangra of Sector 11. Virender had reported on August 20 that his bike, parked near the Directorate of Prosecution building after breaking down on August 4, was missing.

Acting on a tip-off, Detective Staff led by Inspector Mandeep Singh raided and arrested Ravi Kumar. The stolen bike was recovered from Sector 20. Ravi Kumar was also produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
