A heartbreaking tragedy occurred in the Krishna Nagar locality of Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, where 27-year-old Anju Devi allegedly killed her nine-month-old son by throwing him from the rooftop of their two-storey home during a heated family dispute.

The incident took place during an argument involving family members. The child was rushed to the district hospital but was declared dead by the doctors upon arrival.

Ballia Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh confirmed that Anju Devi has been detained and is currently under interrogation. Following a complaint by the child’s grandmother, Shobha Devi, a case has been registered under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide.

Background information reveals that Anju Devi had a love marriage and had been living at her maternal home for the past two years. Her elder sister, Manisha, had also been staying there for the last two months.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the tragic loss of the infant’s life.
