In a significant development in a multi-crore paddy procurement scam, Yamunanagar police have arrested a second accused, Anil Kumar, a technician with the Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (HAFED). He is accused of orchestrating large-scale financial irregularities using forged gate passes at the grain market. Authorities also recovered Rs1 lakh in cash from him, reportedly taken as a bribe.
Anil Kumar was taken into custody on March 20, 2026, in connection with FIR 167/2025 registered at Pratapnagar police station in Yamunanagar district. He was produced before the district court, which granted a three-day police remand for further investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that Anil Kumar generated fake gate passes to falsely record the movement of paddy stocks, causing an estimated loss of around Rs42 crore to the state exchequer. Police said he systematically manipulated official records, enabling unauthorized diversion and misreporting of government grain stocks.
This is the second arrest in the case, with one accused already in custody. Investigators believe that Anil Kumar’s arrest will help uncover the broader network behind the scam.
DSP Rajeev Miglani confirmed the arrest, stating, “Initial findings indicate that Anil Kumar caused a loss of approximately ₹42 crore by issuing fake gate passes. He is being interrogated, and efforts are underway to expose the entire network. More arrests are likely soon.”
