Angelo Bunkley, David Saycocie Arrested After Meijer Theft

Airsoft gun fired during getaway; meth, theft charges filed

MACHESNEY PARK, IL — Two men face criminal charges after a retail theft incident at a Meijer store led to their arrest, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.

Deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. on August 21 to a reported theft at the Meijer on West Lane Road. A caller told authorities that Angelo Bunkley, 25, exited the store with a cart full of unpaid merchandise.

The situation escalated when Bunkley allegedly entered a black Lexus driven by David Saycocie, 37. As the vehicle drove away, Bunkley reportedly fired an airsoft gun at the caller, though no pellets struck the individual.

Deputies later located the vehicle in the Schnuck’s parking lot, where both suspects were arrested.

Bunkley is charged with:

Retail theft over $300

Aggravated assault of public property

Saycocie is charged with:

Possession of methamphetamine

Driving while suspended

Obstructing identification

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Both men are scheduled to appear in court on August 22.
