A Santa Clarita man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly attempting to steal more than $1,600 in beauty products from a Valencia store.

Deputies responded on Feb. 27 to a business on the 24400 block of Magic Mountain Parkway after receiving reports of a theft in progress.

Officials say Andrew Rodriguez, 30, allegedly filled personal bags with merchandise and tried to leave the store without paying. Loss prevention staff detained Rodriguez until deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrived.

Rodriguez was taken into custody and booked on felony grand theft charges for allegedly stealing property exceeding $400, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records.
