CROOKSTON, Minn. — A 27-year-old Crookston man, Andrew William Gregg, faces multiple charges, including felony stalking and domestic assault by strangulation, following a months-long investigation by the Crookston Police Department.

Gregg was charged on December 12 in Polk County District Court with:

Pattern of stalking conduct

Domestic assault by strangulation

Misdemeanor domestic assault

Two counts of interference with privacy

According to the criminal complaint, the charges stem from incidents between June 13 and September 13 involving a female victim.

On June 13, officers responded to a residence where Gregg appeared under the influence and claimed a woman was suicidal. The woman told police she had asked Gregg to leave multiple times and was not suicidal.

The complaint details that on June 26, Gregg allegedly broke into the woman’s residence by entering through an unlocked window after standing on a bicycle and breaking a screen. He reportedly demonstrated how he entered and stated it would not have happened if he still had a key.

On September 13, the woman reported that Gregg, allegedly under the influence of alcohol and suspected cocaine use, became aggressive. She said he slapped her multiple times, pulled her hair, and choked her three times, leaving her struggling to breathe during the third incident.

Detective Grabowski reviewed six photographs showing injuries, including reddening across the collarbone, swelling on the cheeks, and bruises along the jaw and arm, taken between September 14 and 16. Text messages from Gregg included a September 15 message asking if her eyes hurt and stating he loved her “with everything I have in me.”

Recordings from a friend captured Gregg admitting, “I would never never … hit somebody in my life and I did” and “I was so messed up in the head that night.”

A search warrant for Gregg’s Crookston residence on October 17 revealed firearms, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and a cell phone. Field tests of white powdery residues in multiple locations tested positive for cocaine.

Additionally, the search of his phone uncovered two non-consensual sexual recordings with the victim. The woman reportedly expressed feeling violated upon discovering the videos.

Gregg is currently in custody at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center. Charges carry maximum sentences ranging from 90 days in jail for misdemeanor domestic assault to 10 years in prison for the pattern of stalking conduct charge.
