A local man was arrested last week in connection with a fraud investigation originating in Florida, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Andrew Bowman, 39, of Aberdeen, was taken into custody on June 16 after investigators identified him as a suspect in a case involving allegations of financial deception and unauthorized computer access.
The investigation began on April 25 when police in Florida reported a case involving a resident who accepted payment for work but failed to complete the job, retaining both the money and property.
Aberdeen investigators reviewed victim documentation, financial records, and communications between the parties, leading to warrants being issued for Bowman on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses and computer access violations.
Bowman was located and arrested by Aberdeen officers. He appeared before a Moore County magistrate and was released on a $10,000 secured bond.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
