In a swift breakthrough, Gumla police on Monday arrested three individuals in connection with the brutal murder of local businessman Binod Agarwal. The incident occurred on Sisai Road in Gumla town, Jharkhand, while Agarwal was returning to his shop-cum-residence.
According to Superintendent of Police Haris Bin Zaman, the main accused, Anchal Vyom Tirkey, attacked Agarwal with an iron rod, while two accomplices, Julian Minj and Sameer Toppo, aided in the assault. The motive behind the attack is under investigation.
Agarwal sustained serious head injuries and was being taken to Ranchi for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on the way. The police acted quickly and apprehended all three accused on the same day.
The arrests were made following the examination of CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, police said. Further investigation is ongoing to determine whether the attack was premeditated or part of a larger conspiracy.
