In a swift anti-narcotics operation, Ganeshpeth Police arrested 37-year-old Amol Rambhau Srirao near Gitanjali Square on Central Avenue for smuggling and attempting to sell Mephedrone (MD) powder.
Srirao, a resident of Srikrishna Nagar, Wathoda, was apprehended following a tip-off received by Senior Police Inspector Machhindra Pandit. Acting on the intelligence that Amol was carrying a consignment of MD powder intended for sale, Officer Venkatesh Nulgondawar led the raid and successfully nabbed the suspect on the spot.
From Amol’s possession, police recovered:
7.70 grams of Mephedrone (MD)
A mobile phone
A scooter
The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs1.25 lakh.
Authorities have also identified an accomplice named Harshad, who is currently on the run. Efforts are underway to track him down and investigate the broader network involved in the drug trade.
Amol Srirao has been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is ongoing.
