The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has successfully arrested Amit alias Kale (40), a criminal wanted in connection with a high-profile murder case in Jahangir Puri that occurred on May 22, 2023. The arrest came after an anonymous tip-off led to his location being traced.
According to the police, on the night of May 22, Bijender Yadav was brutally murdered by a group of individuals, including Sanju Yadav, Sandeep Panwar, Jai Singh, and Suraj Yadav. The group, all from the same village, had a longstanding enmity with the victim. While three of the accused were swiftly apprehended, Amit alias Kale managed to evade capture and remained elusive for several months. He abandoned all known addresses and went into hiding, prompting the court to declare him a proclaimed offender. The Delhi Police Commissioner announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for information leading to his arrest.
The breakthrough came when Head Constable Ramkesh received a tip-off about Kale’s whereabouts. On May 30, a Delhi Police team successfully apprehended him from Yamuna Vihar in North-East Delhi.
Amit alias Kale is a seasoned criminal with a notorious history, involved in seven cases of murder and attempted murder across various Delhi police stations.
