A 39-year-old woman has been charged with murder following the death of Judy Zussman, a 93-year-old great-grandmother found at a residence in Gatley, Stockport on April 16, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed.
The victim was discovered deceased by officers in the morning hours. A woman was arrested at the scene and initially detained under the Mental Health Act.
This week, GMP announced that Amelia Ali, of no fixed address, has been formally charged with murder in connection with the incident. She is scheduled to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday.
Judy Zussman’s family previously paid tribute, remembering her as “a much loved and devoted wife to her late husband Jack, and an adored sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.”
GMP has also confirmed it made a self-referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) regarding prior contact with the deceased.
The case remains under investigation as authorities prepare for court proceedings.
