Amber Yancy, Joel Price Caught in Hinton Home Trespass

Suspects found with stolen items; charges pending

by Amelia Crawford

HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Two individuals were apprehended exiting a residence they had no legal right to enter, following a neighbor’s report of suspicious activity in the area.

On May 3, 2025, around 11:32 a.m., Patrolman J.J. Crawford responded to a trespassing complaint at 126 Main Street. A green Toyota RAV4 was found parked behind a home whose owner was confirmed to be out of town.

Officer Crawford arrived to find Amber Nicole Yancy and Joel Franklin Price emerging from the residence. The pair claimed they were collecting property for a friend and had already loaded several items into their vehicle.

However, when authorities contacted the homeowner, they confirmed that neither suspect had permission to enter the property and did not know either individual.

A search of the RAV4 uncovered property belonging to the homeowner, including tile boxes and stair balusters with an estimated value of $850.

Both Yancy and Price admitted the front door was unlocked and that they entered without forcing entry. While they were not charged on the spot, charges are pending based on their admissions and the recovery of stolen items.
