A former police officer and current teacher has been arrested in Florida on charges of trafficking fentanyl, authorities say.
Amber Williamson was taken into custody by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office after officials found what they described as “trafficking amounts of fentanyl” in an apartment she shared with Marcus Plowden, a suspected prolific drug dealer. Plowden was also arrested. Both face charges of armed trafficking.
Williamson served as a Daytona Beach Police officer from 2009 to 2019. She is currently employed as a teacher at Richard Milburn Academy.
Authorities did not release additional details regarding the case, and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
