Amber Gillaspie Arrested in Topeka Drug and Traffic Stop Case

Expired plate leads to drug charges for Topeka woman

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A routine traffic stop in North Topeka Tuesday afternoon resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old woman after deputies uncovered illegal narcotics and multiple vehicle violations.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., the Shawnee County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit pulled over a black Pontiac G6 near N.W. Independence and Central Avenues due to an expired license plate. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered the driver, Amber Dawn Gillaspie of Topeka, was operating the vehicle with an expired driver’s license and no insurance.

The investigation also led to the discovery of illegal substances inside the vehicle. As a result, Gillaspie was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Jail on the following charges:

Possession of an opiate, opium, narcotic, or certain stimulant

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Possession of marijuana

Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license

Operating a motor vehicle with an expired tag

Authorities noted the investigation remains ongoing, and additional details may be released as the case develops.
