Amritsar Commissionerate Police have solved a blind murder case involving Sonu Singh, who went missing from the Mohkampura area on the night of August 12, 2025, uncovering a premeditated conspiracy behind his death.
The investigation revealed that Amandeep Kaur, Sonu Singh’s wife, along with her lover Sunil Singh alias Sheelu, Sunil’s mother Seeta, and her husband Gurwinder Singh alias Happy, planned and executed the murder.
On the night of August 12, Amandeep allegedly took her husband to Batala bus stand, where Gurwinder transported him in an e-rickshaw to Misharpura village. There, Sonu Singh was intoxicated, restrained, and killed. Gurwinder reportedly slit his throat, while Sunil struck him with an axe, and the body was later dumped in a drain near Adda Panjgraian. Amandeep attempted to mislead police by filing a missing person report at her parental home in Rasoolpur Kallar.
Following the statement of Sonu’s brother Parmjeet Singh alias Pamma, an FIR was registered on November 14 at Mohkampura police station under Sections 140(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Within 24 hours, police arrested Seeta and Amandeep Kaur, and on November 16, Gurwinder Singh was also taken into custody. Sunil Singh, alias Sheelu, remains absconding.
The arrested accused include:
Amandeep Kaur, 35, housewife, Rasoolpur Kallar
Seeta, 45, of Angarh, residing in Misharpura
Gurwinder Singh alias Happy, 35, labourer, Misharpura
All three have no prior criminal history. The deceased, Sonu Singh, was a resident of Rasoolpur Kallar, Amritsar.
The case was solved under the supervision of DCP (Detective) Ravinderpal Singh, ADCP-3 Jasroop Kaur Bath, ACP (East) Gagandeep Singh, and SHO Mohkampura, Inspector Harparkash Singh. Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing and efforts are on to apprehend the remaining accused.
