In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Hanumangarh police arrested two men and seized a massive consignment of 5 quintals of doda post during a barricading operation on Sunday. The operation took place along the Jamnagar-Amritsar Expressway near Chohilawali.
The suspects, Amandeep Kumar (34) and Jagraj Singh (46) — both residents of Bathinda, Punjab — were nabbed when officers intercepted a truck and a Scorpio SUV believed to be escorting the consignment.
The SUV, driven by Amandeep, was stopped first. Soon after, a truck driven by Jagraj Singh was also halted. Upon inspection, police discovered a secret compartment beneath the truck’s body that concealed numerous sacks of doda post.
Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar stated that the arrests are part of a broader campaign targeting narcotics, illegal arms, gambling, and other criminal activities across the district.
Both Amandeep and Jagraj were arrested on the spot and are currently in police custody as further investigation unfolds.
