In a major drug bust, the Dhilwan police arrested three individuals with 400 grams of heroin during a routine inspection near the Amritsar-Jalandhar road. The accused have been identified as Aman Malik of Chatiwind, Amritsar; Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, also from Amritsar; and Sandeep Sharma alias Lovely from Jalandhar.
According to SSP Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora, the arrests took place when Sub-Inspector Dalwinder Bir Singh and his team were conducting vehicle checks and received a tip-off about a drug consignment in transit.
Upon spotting the suspected white car, the police signaled it to stop, but the suspects attempted to flee. After a brief chase, the vehicle was intercepted, and 400 grams of heroin was recovered hidden inside an envelope.
Following the arrest of Malik and Gopi, the police interrogation led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Sandeep Sharma, who was allegedly waiting to receive the consignment.
DSP Bholath, Karnail Singh confirmed that all three accused are currently in two-day police remand for further questioning and investigation.
