Toronto, Canada — Two 21-year-old Indo-Canadian men have been arrested in connection with the brazen daylight murder of a Brampton-based businessman, Harjeet Dhadda, who was fatally shot in Mississauga last month.
The Peel Regional Police (PRP) identified and arrested Aman Aman and Digvijay Digvijay, both 21, in the town of Delta, British Columbia. The arrests were made on May 28, following an intensive investigation with assistance from the Delta Police, Abbotsford Police, Surrey Police, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Dhadda, 51, was attacked around 11:50 a.m. on May 14 in a parking lot in Mississauga. He was shot multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The suspects reportedly fled in a stolen 2018 black Dodge Challenger, which was later recovered.
Both men were transferred back to Ontario and now face first-degree murder charges. PRP Chief Nishan Duraiappah praised the cross-agency efforts, stating:
“No matter how far you run, our teams will find you.”
Authorities believe the killing was targeted, and social media speculation has connected the incident to gang activity, including a possible link to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Unverified posts online and past reports suggest Dhadda may have refused to pay a $500,000 extortion demand.
Dhadda, originally from Uttarakhand, India, was also loosely linked by Indian media to a 2022 murder of a mining trader in India. However, his family strongly denies any criminal involvement.
His daughter, Gurleen Dhadda, told local news outlet Omni,
“They asked for $500,000 from my dad, but he denied it. He said he wouldn’t pay a penny because he worked hard for his money.”
His son, Tanveer Singh Dhadda, wrote in a social media tribute:
“My father did not deserve this. He lived an honest life… yet those who came to harm him operated with complete disregard for the law.”
PRP says the investigation remains active, and further updates may follow.
