HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) — A Georgia man has been arrested in connection with an identity theft case involving more than $50,000, according to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say Alrad Jackson illegally obtained a Florida resident’s personal information and used it to open a joint bank account. He then allegedly made unauthorized withdrawals from the victim’s account.
Investigators tracked the fraudulent activity to a bank in Alabama, where surveillance footage helped confirm Jackson’s identity.
After a warrant was issued, Jackson was located and arrested in Georgia, then extradited to Holmes County, Florida, to face charges of criminal use of personal identification over $50,000.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the victim has since recovered the stolen funds. The investigation remains ongoing.
